AHSA Certification Levels Summary
The American Head Spa Association (AHSA) offers a four-tier certification system to uphold professional standards and educational quality in the scalp wellness and head spa industry.
Each level is designed to reflect the individual’s skills, training scope, and professional responsibilities.
Level 1: Head Spa Technician – Scalp Ritual Specialist
Entry-Level Hands-On Course

Designed for new staff members at salons and wellness centers.

Scalp diagnosis, theory, and consultation skills are not included.
-
All techniques covered in this level are also included in the Level 2 program.

For those planning to pursue Level 2 certification, directly enrolling in Level 2 is recommended.

Even if you hold a Level 1 certificate, you must complete the full Level 2 program to be certified at Level 2.
Level 2: Head Spa Professional – Scalp Wellness Consultant
Comprehensive Theory + Practical Certification

Covers scalp physiology, hair loss types, product knowledge, consultation techniques, and treatment protocols.

No Level 1 certificate is required to enroll.

This is the core certification for working professionals and scalp wellness specialists recognized by AHSA.
Level 3: Head Spa Educator – Master Program Director
Official AHSA Instructor Certification

Requires Level 2 certification and at least 6 months of hands-on experience.

Includes training in curriculum design, demonstration methods, seminar planning, and education business modeling.

Only available to those with an active AHSA Education Membership.
-
Upon completion, educators are granted the authority to report student completions and recommend them for official certification through AHSA HQ.
Level 4: Master Head Spa Educator
Global Education Leadership Program

The highest-level certification for educators who hold both Level 2 and Level 3, and have at least one year of teaching experience.
-
Includes training in global curriculum development, international center education, multilingual seminar planning, and advanced educator leadership.

Participants are given the opportunity to assist in delivering Level 3 instructor courses led by AHSA HQ, and may be selected as trainers for official AHSA international assignments.

Educators fluent in multiple languages will be given priority consideration for overseas branch support and international seminars.
Legal Notice

AHSA certifications are issued as part of a nonprofit educational certification program.
They do not grant franchise rights, exclusive business licenses, royalty income, or commercial operating rights. -
Tuition is collected not by AHSA, but by a separate education provider entity. AHSA only manages membership fees and certification issuance fees.

AHSA logos, curricula, and training materials may be used only under a formal license agreement, and only by members or institutions with an active and approved contract.
-
Any unauthorized use, reproduction, or commercial exploitation of AHSA intellectual property following contract termination will be considered a violation of intellectual property law and subject to legal action.
